ACT 1, SCENE 5
"O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!
It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night
Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope's ear;
Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear!
So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows,
As yonder lady o'er her fellows shows.
The measure done, I'll watch her place of stand,
And, touching hers, make blessed my rude hand.
Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight!
For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night."
This is Romeo's soliloquy. Here the audience finds what it had being waiting for, Romeo forgets his love for Rosaline when he sees Juliet at the Capulet party. Rosaline vanishes from his mind and he declares that he has never been in love until this moment, this also tells us that he wasn't really in love with Rosaline. Romeo uses similes to describe Juliet which really works as a detailed way to express his love. When Romeo sees Juliet for the first time, he breaks into a sonnet flirting and indirectly telling Juliet his intentions. Romeo uses metaphors and simile to describe Juliet giving important insights into their relationship. in the first line Romeo describes Juliet as a source of light, like a star, against the darkness which is another verse that includes duality: "she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night." Romeo's spectacular soliloquy is filled with irony and contrast. His description of Juliet begins the love story of Romeo and Juliet, which, as the reader knows, will end in tragedy. The paragraph below, taken from SparkNotes, adds important information to this analysis.
" Romeo’s first appraisal of Juliet’s beauty is rich in images. Hers is a “beauty rich for use, for earth too dear!” These words contain dramatic irony since Juliet’s beauty is too rich for use in the sense that it will be laid in the tomb too early, and this also foreshadows the tragedy. "

A song that will definitely go along with this passage is "Love at First Sight" by Kylie Minogue, and the lyrics are below.
Kylie Minogue "Love at First Sight."
Thought that I was going crazy
Just havin' one those days yea
Didn't know what to do
Then there was you
And everything went from wrong to right
And the stars came out to fill up the sky
The music you were playin' really blew my mind
It was love at first sight
'Cause baby when I heard you
For the first time I knew
We were meant to be as one
I was tired of running out of luck
Thinkin' 'bout giving up, yea
Didn't know what to do
Then there was you
And everything went from wrong to right
And the stars came out to fill up the sky
The music you were playin' really blew my mind
It was love at first sight
(Love)
'Cause baby when I heard you
(When I heard)
For the first time I knew
We were meant to be as one
(To be as one)
'Cause baby when I heard you
For the first time I knew
We were meant to be as one
Everythin' went from wrong to right
And the stars came out and filled up the sky
(Up the sky)
The music you were playin' really blew my mind
It was love at first sight
(Love)
Love at first sight
Love at first sight
Love
Ooh, it was love, it was love at first sight
'Cause baby when I heard you
(When I heard)
For the first time I knew
We were meant to be as one
(To be as one)
'Cause baby when I heard you
(When I heard)
For the first time I knew
We were meant to be as one
It was love, it was love, it was love, it was love
Oohh, it was love, it was love, it was love, it was love
Oohh, it was love, it was love, it was love, it was love
